Scrap Thieves Catch Employee's Eye

Two men made off with scrap metal from a local building project, but not without drawing the keen eye of an employee there.

According to a police report, a Herker Industries worker spotted two men removing scrap metal from a building project at N56W13712 Silver Spring Drive on July 19. The men -- possibly in their 50s or 60s -- claimed to have permission, a story which later failed to check out.

Though the men made off with only $16 worth of scrap, the employee was able to catch their license plate number. Police say the plate has been identified in other incidents in Menomonee Falls, and Herker officials say because of that, they are willing to prosecute if the subjects can be identified.
