Right Turn on Red Leads To Drunken Driving Ticket

Long-time residents know that red lights at Main Street and Appleton Avenue are absolute. One man may not have noticed the sign.

If you’re a long-time resident in Menomonee Falls, you know a red light at Appleton Avenue and Main Street means you aren’t going anywhere. One man perhaps forgot that, and learned a hard lesson.

At 1:04 a.m. March 29, a man made a right turn on red at the intersection and proceeded east on Main Street. That intersection, of course, has a “No Turn on Red” sign, and the man was pulled over near Water Street.

The man admitted to consuming alcohol, and the odor of intoxicants emanated from his vehicle. The man failed a sobriety test, and a breath test indicated he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.19. The man was arrested for a first-offense OWI, was booked, and released to a sober adult.
