Rep. Don Pridemore swung through Menomonee Falls Thursday to honor Police Chief Anna Ruzinski for the village's recent designation as one of the safest cities in America.
Pridemore presented the plaque, which was officially a "Citation by the Senate" signed by state Sen. Alberta Darling, Sen. Michael Ellis, Pridemore, and Senate Clerk Jeffrey Renk.
The village recently received the honor as one of the 2013 Safest Cities in America for cities with a population of over 25,000. The honor was received from the neighborhood research site, NeighborhoodScout, and Falls is ranked 60th out of 100 communities.
"This is an incredible accomplishment," Pridemore said.
The award was unsolicited and based on the total number of crimes per 1,000 residents. Data used for the research are 1) the total UCR crimes reported to the FBI to have occurred in each city, and 2) the population of each city. Crime statistics reflect the 2011 calendar year, which are the most recent vetted by the FBI.
