Prolonged Knock on the Door Leads to Burglary Charges

Man busted with items from area burglaries after knocking on the door of a Falls residence for 10 minutes.

A 22-year-old Milwaukee man is facing a felony charges after he and another man were knocking on the door of a Menomonee Falls home for 10 minutes.

Charles D. Buckner was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of attempted burglary. If convicted, he could face up to six years in prison and $12,500 in fines.

At 9:49 p.m. Jan. 3, Menomonee Falls police were called to a residence in the N7700 block of Woodview Drive after a woman reported two suspicious men coming to her door. She said she was sitting in her living room when someone began to knock on the front door and ring the door bell for about 10 minutes until she went over and told them to leave.

The van was later located by police, but the men got away after leading police on a pursuit that ended about two blocks away from Buckner’s home.

Inside the van, police found items from other burglaries in the metro Milwaukee area. After further investigating the burglaries, police found surveillance footage of Buckner selling stolen items at a Milwaukee area Cash and Gold Store.

Buckner is out of custody and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
