Police Warn of Counterfeit Check Writing Scheme

On Nov. 14, a counterfeit payroll check ring working in the Milwaukee area cashed several counterfeit checks.

The Menomonee Falls Police Department is asking business owners to be on alert for a possible check writing scam that is affecting Milwaukee area businesses.

According to an alert from the Menomonee Falls Neighborhood Watch electronic Business Watch Program:

On Nov. 14, a counterfeit payroll check ring working in the Milwaukee area cashed several counterfeit checks drawn on the Tri City National Bank account of Cameo Care Center in a coordinated attack.

Multiple payees cashed checks at different locations at the same time. Information that this may be tied to a larger ring working in the Milwaukee area that has affected many financial institutions for some time. Businesses should contact the Menomonee Falls Police Department 532-1700 with any information on, or contacts with any of the below suspects.
