Police Report: Smashed Pumpkins and a Burglary

Whitefish Bay police responded to a report of a burglary, a diamond theft from a local jeweler and smashed terracotta pumpkins.

Four burglaries have been reported to Whitefish Bay police in the past two months.

An iPad and iTravel speakers were stolen in a burglary that occurred between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 24, marking the fourth burglary in the past two months.

Previously, burglars struck Cramer Street on Sept. 24; the 4800 block of Ardmore on Oct. 3; and again on the 4800 block of Ardmore Avenue sometime between Oct. 1 and Oct. 14. In the last Ardmore burglary, a Dell laptop was stolen.

Another burglary was stopped in progress in the 6100 block of Lake Drive at about 9:30 p.m. Oct. 31. The homeowner confronted a suspect attempting to enter the rear patio doors of the house, and the man fled westbound on foot through the yards. Police were unable to locate the man, but were able to gather a description of the subject.

In other police news:

  • A resident in the 5100 block of Marlborough Drive reported someone removed three decorative terracotta pumpkins from his yard and smahed them in the street. He believes the vandalism happened sometime between 11 p.m. Nov. 3 and 6 a.m. Nov. 4.
  • The Whitefish Bay police have four suspects in a diamond theft case from Thiet's Jewelers. The theft was reported to police at 2:24 p.m. on Nov. 2.
  • A blue Haro BMX-style bicycle was reported stolen outside an apartment building in the 400 block of Henry Clay Street. The theft was reported at 9 p.m. on Nov. 3, and the bike owner said the bike was stolen in the previous 27 hours.

I think it is time for the WFB police to have a community meeting and organize neighborhood watch groups.
