Update: Carjacking Suspect Still at Large

Mount Pleasant Police say the suspect of a carjacking Tuesday remains at large, and they are asking for the public's help apprehending him.

**Update 8:15 a.m. Nov. 14

Mount Pleasant Police are asking for the public's help apprehending the man they say stole a woman's car after knocking her to the ground at a local dental office.

According to a written release from the MPPD, a woman was in the parking lot of Dr. Lenz Orthodontics at about 5:24 p.m. Tuesday when she was approached by a man who knocked her to the ground and stole her purse and her keys and drove away in her car.

Using the woman's description of her car, officers spotted the vehicle near the intersection of Highway 11 and Oakes Road going westbound. When police tried to initiate a traffic stop, the suspect turned north onto Cottage Drive and fled on foot and managed to elude capture.

The witness described the suspect as:

  • White male
  • 6' to 6'2"
  • Mid 30s with slim build
  • Shoulder-length hair
  • Wearing blue jeans and a brown leather jacket

According to Facebook posts from Racine Uncovered, officers from Sturtevant and Mount Pleasant police searched for the man with the assistance of a K9 officer from Racine.

Mount Pleasant Police ask anyone with any information to call the MPPD at (262) 884-0454 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at (262) 636-9330, via e-mail through the website www.racine.crimestoppersweb.com, or by sending a text message to CRIMES (274637) and typing in TIP417

WHY NOT PUT UP AN ARTISTS RENDITION OF THE SUSPECT FOR PEOPLE TO LOOK AT INSTEAD OF THE SIDE OF A POLICE CAR? HOW IS SEEING THE SIDE OF A POLICE CAR SUPPOSED TO HELP PEOPLE VISUALIZE WHAT THE SUSPECT LOOKS LIKE? FROM THE DESCRIPTION GIVEN THE SUSPECT COULD BE 1 OF 20,000 PEOPLE IN RACINE! IF THE POLICE WANT OUR HELP THEY SHOULD HELP US A BIT MORE WITH THE DESCRIPTION.

@Ron - if the witness/victim didn't see the person's face, and only got a look at the side or back of him, there is not artist's rendering. The police give the information they have to help catch the suspect. And why are you in all caps yelling?
