Police Beat: Window Shot By BB While Child Was Looking Out

Incidents from the Menomonee Falls police reports.

It’s been a few weeks since an incident involving a suspect firing a BB into a window appeared in the police reports, but last week that silence was broken.

Between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. April 19, an unknown person shot a BB through the second-floor window of a home on the W15000 block of Cleveland Avenue. The 39-year-old female resident said the BB was shot into her bedroom window while her 6-year-old son was looking out of it.

The child was not hurt, but the window and the screen were both damaged. An investigation by Menomonee Falls police officers revealed a neighbor’s vehicle was also hit twice in the windshield by BB shots in the same time frame.

Contacts with other neighbors led police to believe neighborhood kids were the probable suspects, however none were identified. Total damage is estimated at $500 for the windows.

  • A 31-year-old woman drove off the roadway while driving southbound on Marcy Road at approximately 1 a.m. Saturday. A passer-by contacted the police department, and officers found the woman passed out behind the wheel and detected a strong odor of intoxicants. The Menomonee Falls Fire Department also responded to the scene, but the woman was not transported to the hospital. She was taken into custody and had a BAC of 0.22. The woman was issued a citation for first-offense OWI.
  • Between 7 p.m. April 18 and 8 a.m. April 19, someone smashed the rear left window of a vehicle parked in the W13000 block of Fond Du Lac Avenue. The thief stole a 25-year-old man’s briefcase containing a passport, an Social Security card and immigration paperwork.
  • Between 11:30 p.m. April 18 and 8:30 a.m. April 19, an iPod touch, a charging cord and four cigarettes were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on the W13000 block of Fond Du Lac Avenue. The total value of items stolen was $240.
  • At 8:15 a.m. Thursday a black male driving a dark grey or black two-door Chevrolet Lumina or Impala stole $54.64 worth of gasoline from the BP Corner Pump, N56W17450 Silver Spring Dr.
  • Principal Gary Kiltz reported damage to a skylight at the high school, W142N8101 Merrimac Dr., at 8:15 a.m. April 18. It appeared the damage occurred from a rock that was thrown from the top of the building. An extra patrol was requested during the night hours.
