Police Beat: Snow Banks Halt Drunken Drivers, Graffiti and Drug Possession

The latest from the Menomonee Falls police reports.

Two motorists were arrested Sunday night for drunken driving after getting their vehicles stuck in the snow.

The first incident happened at 10:38 p.m., when a 25-year-old female driver got stuck in a snowbank. The Milwaukee woman she had been drinking alcohol and failed field sobriety tests. She was booked and processed for operating while intoxicated-first offense.

About an hour later, a 22-year-old Muskego man was arrested for OWI-first offense at Pilgrim Road and Valley View Drive. The man struck a snowbank and his vehicle became stuck in the snow. The man admitted to consuming alcohol and submitted to a breath test that revealed a preliminary blood alcohol content of 0.19, more than double the legal limit.

Also in the police reports:

  • A 48-year-old man was arrested for domestic violence/disorderly conduct at 5:45 p.m. Thursday in his home on the N5000 block of Spruce Lane. His 46-year-old wife told police he was intoxicated and throwing items around in the house. The man refused to fill out domestic violence paperwork, and was transported to jail. He later violated the 72-hour no-contact period with his wife by placing a phone call.
  • Between 5:30 p.m. Jan. 31 and 11:30 a.m. Feb. 1, an unknown person stole a cardboard box containing tools valued at $988 from a truck parked on the W16000 block of Richmond Drive.
  • Between 3:38 a.m. Jan. 9 and 1:52 a.m. Thursday, graffiti was spray-painted the walls on the railroad bridge near Town Line and Mill roads. The graffiti said: "It isn’t Whos going to Let us, but Whos going to stop us” and the west wall had “2012” painted on it.
  • Between 4:50 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, personal property was stolen from a home on the W13000 block of Fond Du Lac Ave.
  • At 12:21 a.m. Thursday, a 44-year-old man told police an ice chunk had been thrown at his bedroom window, causing the glass pane to break at his home on the W16000 block of Main Street. The man suspected it was his neighbor, with whom he had gotten into an argument with earlier in the day. Police contacted the neighbor, but he denied any involvement.
  • At 6:35 a.m. Thursday, a suspect stole $20.12 in gasoline from the Clark Station, N85W16198 Appleton Ave. The driver was described as a thin, white male with glasses and a hooded sweatshirt. He was driving a blue four-door vehicle.
  • A resident of Wildwood Highlands, N78W17445 Wildwood Dr., witnessed the goddaughter of another resident take numerous decorative items from the hallway of the building. The theft occurred at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, and was reported on Wednesday.
  • A 29-year-old woman who said she purchased an Isuzu truck from a 27-year-old Milwaukee man on Tuesday reported that the vehicle was stolen from her apartment in the W16000 block of Main Street between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 6:35 a.m. Thursday. Police contacted the Milwaukee man, who said he had the truck in his possession but denied ever selling it to the woman. As of Friday, police have been unable to arrest the man or recover the vehicle.
  • At 1:18 p.m. Thursday, a 48-year-old man said two checks were stolen from his residence on the N5000 block of Lone Oak Lane. The man said one check was cashed at an unknown bank, and the second at a Walmart store. A money market withdrawal was also made on his account.
  • A 49-year-old Brookfield man was stopped for operating his vehicle without lights on at 7:43 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Appleton Avenue and Good Hope Road. Police observed that the man was slurring his speech and had bloodshot eyes. After failing sobriety tests, he was arrested and processed for his first offense OWI. He had a blood alcohol content of 0.19.
  • A 52-year-old woman was arrested an booked for assault after slapping her husband across the face at 8:59 p.m. Friday in a home on the N4000 block of Christopher Court. The woman posted bond and was taken to her mother’s home in Wauwatosa.
  • Between 7:25 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Friday, a 2008 Mercury Mariner was keyed along the passenger side of the vehicle in the Marcus Cinemas parking lot, W180N9393 Premier Ln. The damage was approximately four feet long and ran along the rear door and fender.
  • A 22-year-old Brookfield man was arrested and booked for possession of drug paraphernalia at 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Pilgrim Road and Valley View Drive. Officers observed the odor of marijuana in the vehicle upon stopping the man. The man admitted to possessing marijuana, and upon a search, police found a bag of marijuana and a pipe in a backpack.
  • An 18-year-old male punched a 17-year-old male in the face because the younger man was arguing with a girl because she wouldn’t give him cigarettes. The incident occurred at 11:55 p.m. Saturday on the W17000 block of Christman Road. The 18-year-old was booked and cited for disorderly conduct. The 17-year-old was cited for disorderly conduct, underage consumption of alcohol and underage procurement of alcohol.
