Oak Creek Man Charged With Theft of Jewelry

Police say the defendant took jewelry from several different Kohl's stores.

A 25-year-old Oak Creek man is charged with theft after police say he stole more than $2,000 worth of women’s jewelry from two different Kohl’s department stores.

Trevor A. Nettles made his initial appearance Wednesday in Milwaukee County Circuit Court for two counts of felony retail theft. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison and $20,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Sept. 29, West Allis police officers were called to Kohl’s, 2601 S. 108th St., after a security officer reviewed surveillance tapes and saw Nettles come in, grab a large amount of jewelry, go to the bathroom and leave. The officer found packages for the jewelry were in a garbage can and $1,440 in women’s jewelry missing.

On Monday, police were called to another Kohl’s, 3737 S. 27th St., after security officers saw Nettles come in and try to steal $788 in women’s jewelry from the store. The criminal complaint states security knew Nettles from many past instances where he stole from the store and they detained him as he was leaving.

Police said Nettles admitted stealing the jewelry from both stores. Nettles is currently being held in custody on a $500 signature bond and has been ordered over to the JUSTICE 2000 program while awaiting trial.
