A 25-year-old West Bend man is accused of injuring himself and two friends after smoking synthetic marijuana and crashing his SUV into a parked semitrailer in Menomonee Falls, according to a complaint.
Roberto T. Gallegos was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Aug. 16 with two felony counts of operating while intoxicated causing an injury, felony operating while intoxicated-fourth offense, two counts of reckless driving causing injury and operating while revoked. He faces more than a dozen years in prison if convicted of the three felony charges.
Gallegos and his friends Adam G. Henke and Zachary M. Wernicke were transported to Froedtert Hospital after the SUV was trapped underneath a semitrailer on Main Street at Highway 41. While a blood drawn was taken for analysis at the hospital, his friends admitted they smoked synthetic marijuana they purchased in Greenfield after attending Henke’s court hearing, according to a criminal complaint.
Henke and Wernicke both suffered bruises, lacerations and scrapes.
Gallegos previously was convicted of drunken driving in July 2006, August 2009 and October 2011. His driver’s license is also revoked, according to the complaint.
