Man Stabs Himself With Car Keys During Traffic Stop

Guests at a local hotel also received a rude awakening over the weekend.

A 20-year-old Mequon man seemingly took punishment for his misconduct into his own hands Saturday during a traffic stop.

The man was pulled over by police for speeding near Pilgrim Road and Main Street. While conducting the stop, the man began stabbing himself in the neck with his car keys causing injury to himself. The man resisted officers as they attempted to restrain him for his own safety.

The man had a blood-alcohol level of 0.27 at the hospital, and was transported to the Froedtert Intensive Care Unit to receive medical treatment.

An Premature Wake-up Call

Guests at the Radisson Hotel received a premature wake-up call Sunday morning.

At 2:41 a.m. Menomonee Falls police officers and firefighters responded to the hotel for a fire alarm with smoke reported. The hotel guests were all evacuated prior to police arrival, and the alarm was sounding.

Upon further investigation, the smoke was determined to be the contents of a discharged fire extinguisher. The person responsible was an intoxicated 27-year-old New Berlin man. He admitted to discharging the extinguisher, and was cited for disorderly conduct.

  • A woman’s vehicle was ransacked between 3:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Saturday along the N9000 block of Joper Road. Apparently, the woman leaves her car doors unlocked and the newspaper deliveryman leaves the paper in her car. The center console of her vehicle was rummaged through, but nothing was taken.
  • A 20-year-old male stock clerk at Target used his position with the company to steal $2,373.31 worth of merchandise from the store. Store security launched an investigation between Jan. 17 and Jan. 29 after staff discovered empty packaging in the stocking area. The man was caught on camera concealing merchandise, and was stopped by loss prevention. He was arrested, and a secondary search revealed he was also in possession of marijuana.
  • The Menomonee Falls Police Department set up a perimeter around the apartment of a suicidal man on the N8000 block on Mill St. Police attempted to contact the man while on the perimeter, and further information was obtained from contacts familiar with the man.
