Illegal Immigrant Arrested For Identity Theft, Police Say

A 29-year-old immigrant was using false identification after illegally entering the United States in 2004.

A man who illegally entered the United States in 2004 was arrested for identity theft in Menomonee Falls last week.

At roughly 8:30 a.m. June 18, police stopped 29-year-old Andres Melchor while he was driving near Lisbon Road and Dolphin Drive. When police ran Melchor’s plates, they were registered to a Texas man who was a victim of identity theft, according to a report filed with the Menomonee Falls Police Department.

When police interviewed Melchor, he couldn’t provide the victim’s identity theft password, and told police an incorrect social security number. Melchor agreed to return to the MFPD for identification, and admitted that he was using someone else's identification information. He told police he entered the United States illegally in 2004, and his friend provided him with identification information upon his arrival.
