Germantown Man Charged with 3rd OWI After Being Stopped by Falls Officer

Suspect's blood alcohol level was allegedly three times the legal limit.

A 24-year-old Germantown man is facing his third operating while intoxicated charge after he was pulled over in Menomonee Falls last week with a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit.

William S. Bachtell was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Tuesday with two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping and one count of third offense OWI. If convicted, he faces up to 19 months in prison and $22,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, on June 30, Bachtell was pulled over on Highway 41 after and officer saw him doing 75 miles per hour in a 65 miles per hour speed zone. Upon arriving at the vehicle, the officer noticed a strong odor of intoxicants and Bachtell had loud and slurred speech.

Bachtell told the officer he had come from Summerfest and had drank six beers. He had a blood alcohol level of 0.241 at the time of the incident.

Bachtell was previously convicted of OWI in 2007 and 2009.
