Gas Thief Takes Police on High-Speed Chase

The driver, who had stolen about two gallons of gasoline, fled from police at speeds nearing 100 miles per hour.

Two people led cops on a high-speed chase in Menomonee Falls after stealing about 2 gallons of gasoline.

At roughly 1 p.m. July 7, two people pumped $7.72 worth of gasoline from the Speedway station on Main Street and Shady Lane. The thieves fled in a 1993 Chevrolet Caprice, but were later spotted by Menomonee Falls police officers. However, when officers pulled the vehicle over the driver sped off and started a chase.

The driver accelerated eastbound on Main Street, but officers gave up pursuit shortly after it began. The thief was driving erratically and had reached speeds nearing 100 miles per hour. Officers called off the chase because the driver posed an imminent danger to other drivers.
