Firefighters Battle Barn Fire at Blue Spring Farm

Fire crews worked to extinguish a three-alarm blaze that began in a barn on Town Line Road.

The Menomonee Falls Fire Department responded to a three-alarm fire that began in a barn at Blue Spring Farm.

The fire started at roughly 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, and the barn at W220N9110 Town Line Rd. was fully engulfed by the time first responders arrived on the scene. According radio traffic from firefghters on the scene, the barn has collapsed and the fire has spread to a horse riding stable and a home near the barn. We Energies crews were called to the scene to shut off power to live electrical wires that had fallen.

Roughly 15 other departments assisted with snuffing out the flames. An extensive amount of mutual aid was needed to truck water to the scene in tankers since a fire hydrant wasn't close to the fire.

Crews were still on the scene until the early morning hours Wednesday. When the fire began, smoke was visible from Town Line Road all the way to downtown Menomonee Falls.

At 4:37 p.m., firefighters had contained the fire, according to crews on the scene. Protective Services Director Anna Ruzinski said no humans or animals were injured during the incident. It's unclear at this point what caused the blaze.
