Firefighters Extinguish Early Morning Blaze

Chief said fire appeared to have started outside a home on Fair Oak Parkway.

It’s been a busy past few days for the Menomonee Falls Fire Department, and they started Friday with an early morning fire on Fair Oak Parkway.

Fire Chief Jeffrey Hevey said the department received a call at 3:02 a.m. Friday that there was a fire in a two-story home at N51W16971 Fair Oak Pkwy. Hevey said first responders saw smoke showing from the home when they arrived.

It appeared that the fire started outside of the home, but was quickly extinguished. Hevey wanted to emphasize the crucial role smoke detectors played in saving the family of three, and their dog.

β€œAlthough it was the middle of the night at 3 a.m. the smoke detectors woke up the family and allowed them to escape the house,” Hevey said.

Hevey said damage to the home was limited to smoke. Later in the day, the MFFD was on standby in Germantown, as fire fighters from that village assisted crews at a barn fire in Richfield.
