Fire Chief Jeffrey Hevey May Take Post in Texas

The final details are still being worked out, but Chief Hevey confirmed Thursday that he is seeking a new job in Texas.

Menomonee Falls Fire Chief Jeffrey Hevey is close to finalizing details for a new job with a fire department in Texas.

The news broke Thursday on the unofficial Menomonee Falls Fire Department Facebook page, which isn't affiliated with the village. Hevey is preparing to take a job with the West 1-10 Fire Department in Katy, Texas. Hevey told Patch Thursday that he is still working out the final details with West I-10 Fire Department, and didn't say much more than that.

Here's the pose from the MFFD unofficial Facebook page:

"We wish Chief Hevey nothing but the best as he moves on to the West I-10 Fire Dept in Katy Tx.. Its been a true privilege..," the post stated

Hevey didn't say when he would make the move, but said he would release more details Monday as they emerge. Check Patch next week for more information on the chief's new job.

Hevey joined the MFFD from Wauwatosa in 2009, and replaced Robert Coon who served from 1998-2009. In February 2012, the MFFD was combined with the Menomonee Falls Police Department into a Protective Services Department, which is under the direction of Police Chief Anna Ruzinski.

The West I-10 Fire Department was created in 1979 after a homeowner's association raised funds to start the protective service in their neighborhood. After 30 years, the department now services an area of roughly 45 square miles and a population over 100,000 residents.
