Saturday is a great chance to check out one of the most visually appealing demonstrations at any of the Menomonee Falls local events.
Of course, it’s the sprinkler system versus no sprinkler system demonstration that occurs every year at the Safety Fair sponsored by the Menomonee Falls fire and police departments. The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at .
The event coincides with .
Each year, the fire department lights two model, fully-furnished rooms on fire – one with a sprinkler system and one without. The later bursts into a ball of flames that quickly gets out of control, and the . It’s quite a dramatic demonstration.
That’s not all, however. There will be plenty of emergency apparatus on display for climbing in and exploring. You’ll get plenty of chances to meet your officers and firefighters, and food will be served.
In addition, there are many hands-on activities for the kids like extinguishing a fire, or demonstrating your marksmanship with a fire hose.
While you’re at the Safety Fair, be sure to check out the Menomonee Falls Neighborhood Watch 12th Annual Silent Auction. This is the largest fundraiser the organization holds each year, and the proceeds are used to foster a safe community for all.
Remember National Night Out last month? The more items sold, the more that celebration will grow.
This year the numerous and unusual donated items include Swiss Watches, a quilt by a noted Wisconsin quilter, two complete sets of Lamplighter lamps, candles and fuel. Those are only a few of the items.
There are also many certificates to local eateries and businesses. Among those are a $100 Target gift card, sports tickets and memorabilia, including an autographed Packers football. Packers and Brewers rugs are in the mix also for sports fanatics. The organizers promise us there will be plenty of items for all tastes, and have added several wine baskets to prove it.
Registration and bidding begins at 10 a.m. and closes promptly at 2 p.m. This year the winners can pick their items up after 2 p.m. at the registration table.
