Falls Man Charged With Trying to Have Sex With 14-Year-Old Girl

Suspect was caught after police set him up in a sting.

A Menomonee Falls man is facing charges after he was caught by police trying to meet up with what he thought was a 14-year-old girl for sex.

Harold A. Prudhomme, 37, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Monday with one count of use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime. If convicted, he faces up to 40 years in prison and $100,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Jan. 2, an undercover police officer found an ad on Craigslist posted by Prudhomme looking for a young girl to have sex with. The officer created a persona of a 14-year-old girl and sent him a message, which Prudhomme responded to within minutes.

He told the girl he wanted to meet up at a movie theater and perform sexual acts with her under a coat in a theater so no one would notice around them.

On Jan. 11 police arranged a meeting with Prudhomme at an area Starbucks, but he never showed. Two days later they scheduled another meeting, but Prudhomme again failed to show up.

Finally, he contacted the officer again on Jan. 29 and wanted to meet up at the coffee shop. He showed up with three condoms in his jacket and was immediately arrested by police.

Officers then served a search warrant at Prudhomme’s house where they informed his wife of the ad - and arrest.

Prudhomme is free on $10,000 bond while awaiting trial.

"Poor guy"? "Amateur move"? Is their a professional way to solicit a 14-year old girl for sex? The dude is sick and I don't feel bad for him at all. He has no one to blame for his downward spiral but himself.

Wow, you guys ar brutal. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty. His court record has a couple speeding tickets. Obviously based on the information in case information, his wife filed for divorce after the sting officer presented the information to him, as well as foreclusore on the mortgage due to lack of income from being sent to jail until bond was paid for release. I'm not suprised if he was fired from his employer as well.
