Schumacher obtained bank account information from two residents of an apartment complex where he works as a maintenance man and used the accounts to steal money. Schumacher used blank checks to deposit money from one victim’s bank account into the other's and would request cash back from the transactions. He did two such deposits, in which he obtained $900 each time.

One of the residents also noted she was missing some jewelry and a Kohl’s gift card, which Schumacher used to buy items from the store.
