Couple Charged with Stealing Purse from YMCA Offce

Suspect allegedly took the purse while calling for a taxi.

A Menomonee Falls woman and Wauwatosa man are facing charges after they allegedly tried to steal a purse out of and office at the .

Tera M. Golik, 31, and James D. Haller, 31, were each charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Monday with one count of misdemeanor theft. If convicted, they face up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, on May 19, a YMCA staff member saw Haller leaving an administrative office area, and when asked what he was doing, he told the employee that he needed to use a phone even though the employee saw him using a cell phone earlier.

Another employee then noticed her purse was missing and saw Haller and Golik walking out of the club with a large bulge under Haller’s jacket.

The complaint states Golik told officers she and Haller had planned to walk home from the gym, but her knee hurt so Haller went to go phone for a taxi to take them home. She told investigators she knew nothing about the theft until they were confronted by officers.
