Butler Man Charged in Drunken Falls Crash

Suspect, 48, hit another vehicle while trying to turn onto 124th Street and then fled the scene.

A Butler man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly rammed his car into another vehicle in Menomonee Falls Thursday while drunk.

Ronald G. Couillard, 48, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Friday with one count of fourth offense operating while intoxicated within five years, one count of hit and run, and two counts of bail jumping. If convicted, he faces up to eight years in prison and $30,300 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, at 10:34 p.m. Thursday, Couillard slammed his car into the rear driver’s side quarter panel of another car trying that was travelling east on West Silver Spring Drive and he was turning onto 124th Street while travelling west on Silver Spring. Couillard took off after the incident and headed home, but the victim was able to see his license plate number.

Police found Couillard at his home in the 12700 block of West Lancaster Avenue with his car that had fresh damage to the front end. Couillard, who smelled of alcohol, told police he hadn’t been driving since 6 p.m., but later told them he had been drinking at Tristen Place.

Couillard told investigators he hadn’t been drinking since he got home, but he failed a field sobriety test.

Couillard was previously convicted of OWI in 1994, 2003 and 2007. He’s currently being held in Waukesha County Jail on $5,000 cash bail.
