Butler Interim Chief Supported for Permanent Gig
County chiefs believe Lt. Dave Wentland is the man to steer the department back on course after a damning investigation into improper behavior.
A panel of Waukesha County police chiefs has recommended that the Village of Butler hire its new chief from within the embattled department, WISN reported.
Lt. Dave Wentland, the acting chief, was cleared in an investigation into improper activity within the department. Officers — including the previous chief — were found to have engaged in racist and sexist behavior that included watching pornography.
Village officials are negotiating a contract with Wentland, WISN reported.
