Brookfield Woman Charged After Lunging at Falls Cop to Get a Pen

Suspect, who had a BAC of nearly 0.34, wanted to write down the name of the officer who arrested her instead of getting a business card.

A 38-year-old Brookfield woman is facing charges after she allegedly lunged at a Menomonee Falls police officer who wouldn’t give her a pen while she was drunk and beligerant.

Susanna C. Bingen was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Monday with one count of resisting an officer after she lunged at the officer Saturday at Community Memorial Hospital. If convicted, she faces up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, Bingen was taken to the hospital Saturday after she had an argument with her boyfriend and broke the rear window out of a car and cut her arm. After being taken to the hospital, a police officer told her she would be booked on charges, which caused Bingen to get angry and try to walk out of her room.

She then demanded a pen so she could write down the officer’s name, but the officer was concerned Bingen would use it as a weapon and offered to give her a business card instead. Bingen then lunged at the female officer to try and grab a pen out of her pocket, but was quickly restrained against her hospital bed.

Bingen then began yelling derogatory comments towards the officer and refused to walk out of the hospital room after being placed under arrest and had to be placed in restraints and a spit hood. Bingen, who had a blood alcohol level of 0.336 at the time of the incident, was able to remove the hood after being placed in a squad car and also broke free of restraints.
