Brookfield Man Faces 4th OWI

Man was speeding through Menomonee Falls after a night of drinking at Whiskey Corners.

A 35-year-old Brookfield man is facing his fourth drunk driving charge after he was caught speeding home after a night of drinking at a Menomonee Falls tavern.

Benjamin A. Marquardt was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court last week with one count of fourth offense OWI. If convicted, he could face up to one year in county jail and $2,000 in fines.

At 12:40 a.m. Thursday, Marquardt was spotted by a falls police officer on Lannon Road near Silver Spring Road and driving 66 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour speed zone. He was pulled over shortly afterwards and told police he had “too much” to drink at before driving.

Marquardt had a blood alcohol level of 0.18 at the time of the incident, which is more than twice the legal limit to drive in Wisconsin.

He was previously convicted of OWI in 1995, 1996 and 2005. Marquardt was being held on $500 cash bond and $1,500 signature bond, and posted bond on Monday.
