Attempted Burglary in Falls May Be Connected to 14 Others

On Tuesday Menomonee Falls police officers pursued suspects involved an attempted burglary into Milwaukee, which eventually turned to a foot chase.

An attempted burglary that occured Tuesday in Menomonee Falls could be part of a larger ring that has committed more than a dozen break-ins since the middle of December.

At approximately 9:55 a.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to a report of three subjects in the N7200 block of Woodview Drive. The three suspects fled in a white Chevrolet conversion van when they noticed someone was home. Menomonee Falls police officers located the vehicle shortly thereafter and a chase ensued into Milwaukee near 76th Street and Villard Avenue.

The suspects fled on foot in a nearby alley, but one suspect was eventually brought into custody by the Milwaukee Police Department. All three suspects are described as black males in their early 20’s. The investigation is continuing.

According to a report on JSOnline, the recent burglary attempts might be part of a string of 14 other break-ins, five of which occured in New Berlin. Residences in Brookfield, Greenfield, Hales Corners, Milwaukee and West Allis may also have been hit.

In response to the recent burglary attempt in the village, the organization released the following tips via its Notify Me program to help residents identify suspicious activity.

The Neighbordhood Watch is asking residents call police if they see suspicious individuals doing any of the following:

  • Going door to door in a residential area,
  • Waiting in front of a house or business,
  • Forcing entry to or tampering with a residence or vehicle,
  • Non-resident going into back or side yard of house,
  • A person exhibiting unusual behavior or physical symptoms,
  • Carrying property,
  • Heavy human traffic to and from a certain residence.

They are also asking residents to pay attention to suspicious vehicles in their neighborhood as well.

If you see the mentioned behavior and have even the slightest concern, please call the MFPD at (262) 532-8700. One call could lead police to the arrest of individuals, or even save a life.
