Alleged Falls Battery Thief 'Charged' In Court Friday

Suspect was spotted by an employee taking $5,000 worth of cable and batteries from American Asphalt.

A Milwaukee man is facing charges after he allegedly stole $5,000 worth of cable and 55 batteries from American Asphalt Materials, N56W12828 Silver Spring Drive.

Robert J. Daniels, 36, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Friday with one count of theft valued at more than $5,000. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, at 5:20 a.m. July 12, Daniels was seen by an employee of the company loading the cable into the trunk of his car. Daniels used to work for American Asphalt and the employee was able to identify him and also yelled at him, saying he was a thief.

After alerting police to the crime, workers at the company also told them 55 batteries had gone missing and were believed to have been taken by Daniels, along with money another employee had left in a company truck.

Daniels admitted to stealing the cable and some batteries, but denied taking 55. He’s currently being held in Waukesha County Jail on $500 cash bail and a $1,500 signature bond.
