We need to pull a Chris Christie and close off all the roads coming from the east.
Caliente January 23, 2014 at 08:41 AM
Pale Rider are you aware that Newman's brother is running for trustee. I am sure he will be a no vote on the plan commission because he wants to join his brother so the two of them can screw up this village. I know how I am going to vote.
JustTheFacts January 29, 2014 at 07:59 AM
Caliente, be careful what you ask for. The two MFTA members, Bonnie L and Jeremy W. seem to have a very hard time asking good questions and then voting their conscience without the Steve W. of MFTA pulling their strings. I watch the Planning Comm meetings and the Newman's don't agree on everything, but they both seem to have the best interest of the Village and like all board members I take difference with them at times and their decisions, but I appreciate their commitment to our community. You should attend board meetings or go back and watch the broadcasts, read the minutes and see for yourself. It is ridiculous that the 2 MFTA members, Bonnie L. and Jeremy Waltz can't speak for themselves. Just watch how quickly Steve W. of the MFTA flashes across the newspapers or in these blogs how one or both voted no, it's always no even though they won't have an open discussion with the rest of the board to resolve their differences. Part of the responsibility of all board members is to interact with each other in open discussion on all points of view and then come hopefully to a team agreement. If the vote on tuff issues is always 6-1 or 5-2 with the same one or 2 voting NO then your not voting in the best interest of the our Village. At least have the stomach to argue your point of view and try to get others to see your point of view. Both Newman's seem to demonstrate this and have the capability on the Planning Comm Board to work with the board. But, like I say, you have to own your point of view in order to argue one!! It's hard to argue as a puppet for the MFTA, when you don't have control of your own strings... Be careful what you ask for in this election...

Who's the real puppet ? Try to stay on subject JTF --
JustTheFacts January 29, 2014 at 05:31 PM
CD, I am on the subject and certainly no puppet. We are discussing the candidates right?? My point is be careful what you ask for. Having all MFTA candidates elected to the board may give you representation from ONLY their point of view. Read their Mission Statement, I understand they do not support any TIF's and this is where Jeremy and Bonnie are having major problems with supporting areas of the town that the board is trying to improve such as where the WAC is now. This development could never of happened without a TIF. TIF's are a great method without using our tax dollars. I agree we need to hold the line on spending and taxes but also continue developing areas in or town, TIF's are the only vehicle for this.
JustTheFacts January 30, 2014 at 09:05 AM
TP, I would agree with you in a general statement and most of the TIFs have no multifamily developments in them. However, as you know, we are talking about a very blighted area that requires a TIF to prepare the infrastructure in order to launch a successful overall project. From what I have read, the housing in the new Falls Parkway development is high end rentals that will not have very many children if any. It is designed for adult living, so little to no impact on the school district. In fact, I would envision this housing as a gateway to purchasing a home in the Falls once these young adults start a family which is a win win for the Village. Also keep in mind that today the school system is getting almost $0 tax dollars generated from this area so even though it will take 20 years for the full increment to be distributed to the Village, school District and County the jobs created and sales taxes generated will have a positive impact for Menomonee Falls residents and of course another beautiful redeveloped blighted area. As they say, you can't always have your cake and eat it to.
JustTheFacts January 30, 2014 at 09:23 AM
PR, you clearly don't understand or realize the valuable use of TIF's. Take a look at all the TIF areas in the Falls and you will see the value they brought to our Village and how all of this was accomplished without your or my tax dollars. You will see that thousand of jobs have been created, property values have climbed and new surrounding businesses have sprouted all because of the use of a TIF. They are a proven success for ours and many communities.
JustTheFacts January 30, 2014 at 01:58 PM
TP and PR, TIF #1 Industrial Park (Lamp Light Farms) and TIF #3 Kohls Corp Park are closed. Both went from $5million to $61 Million and $127 million in new tax revenue. Here is a link to all the TIF's. A great report online for all to read the success of each TIF. http://www.menomonee-falls.org/DocumentCenter/View/5052 I hope you take the time to read through this and educate yourselves so you don't make statements that aren't factual. Secondly, where are you coming up with the 100 students?? That is nothing more then speculation. Lets deal with facts if you want to continue to have a good debate on TIF's.
JustTheFacts January 31, 2014 at 08:36 AM
Funny how when I answer back with facts and a link to the facts to support my position you guys go off track onto another false claim like how many kids an adult high end housing project is going to create added expenses for the schools. Just remember the school district has to agree with all TIF's or they don't proceed. That's the FACTS Boys...
JustTheFacts January 31, 2014 at 10:52 AM
Ok, I'll set the meeting when and where can you meet?
Caliente January 31, 2014 at 12:12 PM
Just the Facts you seem to be very knowledgeable and you sound as though you are a village hall insider. Are you? The average person on this blog doesn't know what you seem to know.
JustTheFacts January 31, 2014 at 12:58 PM
Caliente, No, not an insider, I just watch the meeting on Channel 25 and do attend some meetings. The TIF link is on the Village website along with all the minutes from all the meetings, a very good source, I would highly recommend.
Caliente January 31, 2014 at 02:08 PM
Hmmm...don't know if I believe that.
JustTheFacts January 31, 2014 at 02:38 PM
You don't believe what? I am a resident of MF and like to know the facts on issues so I have good discussions with friends, family and you guys and I have found the best way is to stay tuned in. To many issues are discussed with emotion and you can't make good decisions in life when you are doing it emotionally vs dealing with facts. I think you can all agree on that right?
JustTheFacts January 31, 2014 at 04:40 PM
PR, All the information I have discussed here is information all of us have access to, so no I'm not an insider just a very curious person who try's to stay engaged in what/why/who is happening in my Village as we all should. Especially at election time. We need to find out more information on all the candidates and I hope the Village sets up a forum for this. Then we all can attend an asked the tuff questions so we put on the board those we believe have the best interest of us the resident tax payers of MF.
W . Benz January 31, 2014 at 09:30 PM
JTF : Since you in the Know with all this infor .. So tell us who the best candidates for trustee are , I am curious person like you.
JustTheFacts February 01, 2014 at 07:55 AM
I have my thoughts, but let's give the process sometime before we try to decide. Hopefully the MFTA and the Village will have a forum for all candidates to meet and discuss issues. We have good choices and we should hear from all of them publicly.
