It's All About the Leaves

Wisconsin’s premier leafer and Swanstone Gardens owner, David Calhoon, will conduct a Concrete Leaf Casting workshop at Shady Lane Greenhouses on Saturday, May 10, from 10am-1pm.

Participants will learn how to preserve their favorite leaves in this hands-on class using concrete casting, a process that creates cement molds from leaves. The natural depression and veins of the leaf are captured in amazing detail. Once cured, the casting can be used ornamentally in homes and gardens.

The cost of the workshop is $55 and registration is required. Students should bring some heavy-veined leaves like rhubarb, burdock or hosta. Leaves must fit comfortably on a 16”x24” board. Coffee and lemonade will be served; students are encouraged to bring a bag lunch.
