How Will Mail Service Change in Menomonee Falls with No Saturday Delivery?

U.S. Postal Service Saturday delivery will be eliminated by August 1. Check out the hours for your local post office.

Deeming Saturday delivery “no longer sustainable,” The U.S. Postal Service announced Wednesday it will eliminate Saturday delivery of mail by Aug. 1.

Saturday is the lightest mail delivery day by volume and many businesses are closed on Saturdays, according to the U.S. Postal Service.

Even though there will not be Saturday delivery, with the exception of Express Mail, local post offices that are currently open on Saturday would remain open. Mail accepted at Post Offices on Saturdays will be processed on Monday.

A 2012 Rasmussen poll and a 2010 Gallup poll on mail delivery found that the majority of U.S. residents surveyed were ok with eliminating Saturday delivery.

They needed to drop Saturday delivery years ago. The entire USPS needs to be shut down on Saturdays, stop raping the tax payer for your failed union contracts.

To be honest they could cut mail delivery to twice a week (Monday & Thursday) and I'd be fine with it. I bet 90% of the mail we get is junk mail anyway. Stopping mail on Saturday will help them save money, or lose less I guess would be more accurate. But this wont address the real issues....they lose $25 million a day! Their typical union mentality with out of control benefits packages, pensions, pay scale, that it was just a matter of time before they ran it into the ground. Our government can't run ANYTHING efficiently. Wait until they get their hands on our health care system. Nothing the government runs is sustainable in the long run......

Eliminating Tuesday delivery makes a lot more sense.
