Forecasters Predict a Stormy Weekend

National Weather Service is predicting severe thunderstorms — and possible hail and tornadoes — throughout southeastern Wisconsin, including Menomonee Falls.

A double whammy of severe weather is expected to hit southeastern Wisconsin this weekend as the National Weather Service is is predicting two separate storms will hit the region on Saturday and Sunday

There's a chance of severe thunderstorms both days, which could include hail or even tornadoes.

Some thunderstorms are expected Friday night as warm and humid pushes moves north, but those storms aren't expected to be severe, the service says.

However, another strong mass of warm and humid air will return to southern Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon and night. That storm could bring hail and damaging wind gusts, the service says. It adds that an isolated tornado "can not be ruled out."

The worst is expected Sunday afternoon and evening, as a deep low pressure system moves in from the west. Again, the service warns that that storm has the potential for more widespread severe weather, with large hail, damaging winds and the possibility of tornadoes.

In Menomonee Falls, the local weekend forecast calls for a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday night, but that increases to an 80 percent chance by Saturday night. The National Weather Service says Sunday night will bring more rain and storms, which should end before 1 a.m. Monday.
