A.J. O'Brady's Prepping for Bigger St. Patrick's Day Bash

Falls' Irish pub and grill will be hopping all week leading up to the biggest day of the year for those who love green beer.

Black Friday is to retailers as St. Patrick’s Day is to pubs, and A.J. O’Brady’s owner Bruce Russell is ready to throw a party on arguably the biggest annual event for the local Falls business.

As the only Irish pub and grill in Falls, A.J.’s has a reputation to uphold. Last year, Russell hosted the largest St. Patrick’s Day celebration in the village – complete with an outdoor music tent and plenty of beer and corned beef.

This year, Russell plans to outdo last year’s celebration. Roughly 800 pounds of corned beef have been ordered, and 38 barrels of green beer are ready to be tapped on March 17. The outdoor, heated music tent is even a little bigger.

Russell said the most significant improvement from last year is the music lineup.

“That’s probably the most common feedback was that the music could have been better, and this year it will be,” Russell said.

Here’s the lineup for St. Patrick’s Day Weekend:

  • Friday: Pat McCurdy and DJ Chamroc
  • Saturday: Erica Hoyt, Liam Ford, Rebel Grace
  • Sunday: Bad Medicine and the finals for “AJ’s Battle of the Bands” (The annual kilt contest will precede Bad Madicine)

With AJ’s Live open across the street, there will be more options for music there throughout the weekend. In fact, the musical talent has continued on an upward trend at A.J.'s since Bill O'Dwyer, lead singer of Chasin' Mason, became an investor in A.J.'s Live.

But St. Patrick’s Day also offers AJ’s an opportunity to give back to the community. On Friday, the 102.9 Hog Guys will be at the pub, and collections will be taken to benefit the Menomonee Falls Fire Department. The same night, they’ll also donation to the Optimist Club and Falls Chamber of Commerce from revenues in the heated tent.

“We said from the start of AJ’s that we always wanted to be a business that supports the local community and organizations,” Russell said. “We have a chance to do that in a big way this year once again.”

Most importantly, AJ’s has partnered with a local hotel and limousine service to provide lodging and transportation deals on the big night.

“Above all else, we want to make sure people are having a good time, but are doing it in a safe way,” Russell said.

AJ’s is also celebrating its second anniversary, and the party has already started. AJ’s is offering drink specials and free deals throughout the week. You can find more information by visiting AJ’s online. To learn more about tranposrtaion and lodging deals, give AJ’s a call at (262) 250-1095.

After St. Patrick’s Day March continues to roll full steam ahead into the NCAA Basketball Tournament, and right into Opening Day April 1.

“I’ve got my vaction booked starting April 2,” Russell said.
