Meet Distinguished Young Women Participants: Lauren Meyers & Bryce Mattson

Meet Distinguished Young Women participants Lauren Meyers and Bryce Mattson.

Lauren Meyers is the daughter of Richard and Barbara Meyers and sister to Kevin. She would like to pursue a career as either a nurse of elementary school teacher and hopes to attend University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Lauren keeps herself busy with Varsity Cheer, Track and Field, Student Council , and being a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor. She will be performing a tumbling routine for her talents. When asked about why she chose to participate in the Distinguished Young Woman Program here is what she had to say;

Why did you decide to sign up for the DYW Program? I wanted to do it for the experience! I know girls who have done it in previous years, and they have said it was a blast! So I decided to give it a try.

What or who encouraged or motivated you to participate in the DYW Program? Girls who have done it in previous years have told me that it's a lot of fun, and the experience is the best thing that you gain from it.

Next we introduce you to Bryce Mattson. Bryce is the daughter of Greg and Deborah Mattson and sister to Signe. She is looking to pursue a career in either business or as a retail buyer and hopes to attend University of Wisconsin-Madison. Bryce’s school activities are MFHS Link Crew, MFHS Student Council,  Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Junior Varsity Girls' Golf, Junior Varsity Girls' Soccer, Micro Soccer Youth Coach, Menomonee Falls Rec. Dept. Volunteer, and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Volunteer. She will be performing a Musical Skit. Here is why Bryce chose to participate in the Distinguished Young Woman Program;

Why did you decide to sign up for the DYW Program? I have always thought it would be very fun to participate in this program. I decided to participate in the DYW program because it is an opportunity to put myself outside of my comfort zone, meet new friends, and improve my self-confidence. This program is also the perfect way to learn more about myself and gain self-esteem. Overall deciding to sign up for the DYW program has been a wonderful experience through which I have also met some great new girls!

What or who encouraged or motivated you to participate in the DYW Program? My parents and friends mostly encouraged me to participate in the DYW program. With their support, I was motivated to participate in the DYW program by my willingness to improve myself, meet new friends, and most importantly just to have fun! I really wanted to be a part of this program because I thought it sounded like an awesome experience that I could not pass up!

What do you hope to get out of the program? I hope this program allows me to come away with some new close friends and better dance moves! But most importantly, I would really like to discover myself and my full potential through these new experiences offered by this program. This program will help me learn more about myself and improve my sense of self through the challenges of this program. But, I am already looking forward to the fun experience of participating in the DYW program!

What is something you would like people to know about you? This is a very exciting time in my life and I feel that it is very important for me to take advantage of as many great opportunities as possible. With my time, I like to keep active by spending it with my friends and family, I enjoy my job working at The UPS Store in Brookfield, and I try my hardest in school, participate in many different clubs, and have been preparing for college. In the fall of 2014, I hope to be attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison pursuing a major in Business. I would also like people to know that I am a very bubbly and optimistic person. I strive to have a lot of fun and spread my joy to others in any way! You will always see me with a smile on my face. :)

Just a reminder to everyone the Distinguished Young Woman program takes place next week Saturday, February 16th at Menomonee Falls High School.  Tickets cost $5 and are available at the door.
