Rogers Memorial Hospital Adds Staff Psychiatrist in Oconomowoc

Amanda Rizzari, M.D., joins Rogers Memorial Hospital on July 15, 2013 as a staff psychiatrist, working with adults in the inpatient program at Rogers’ Oconomowoc location.

A graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Dr. Rizzari completed her internship and residency in psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. She is board certified and most recently worked in a variety of medical settings for hospitals and treatment centers in Texas.

Dr. Rizzari’s experiences in treating patients who often were uninsured or homeless helped shape her understanding of how psychosocial stressors can play a major role in delivering and receiving care. She also places great value in listening to a patient’s story.

“Sometimes listening is all a patient really needs,” she said. “Often, in the hustle and bustle of medicine, this important piece can get missed. No two people have the same story, and I love listening to what patients have to say and incorporating it into their treatment. By listening carefully, I can find the best ways to make their treatment unique and effective.”

A member of the Wisconsin Medical Society, Dr. Rizzari is interested in all types of adult psychiatry. “At Rogers, the combination of different patients, compassionate staff and comprehensive programs, along with the variety of stories, will help me develop the best care plans possible to help patients succeed,” she said.
