Tri-County YMCA to Celebrate Grand Re-Opening

After a year-long renovation process, the YMCA is ready to showcase its new and improved amenities.

Fourteen months after a flood severely damaged the , the center staff is inviting the community to a grand re-opening celebration and open house.

Mark your calendars for the event that will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17. It will be a chance to see the transformation that has taken place after a year-long renovation effort.

Flooding in July 2010 left the Center’s lower level unusable and forced the staff to make numerous programming adjustments to accommodate members and guests. To get back on its feet, the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee initiated a fundraising effort to not only repair the center, but improve the amenities offered.

“We are extremely grateful for the Mellowes contribution and countless other community partners and members for their tremendous support in rebuilding and renovating the Tri-County YMCA,” said Geoff Mertens, center executive of the Tri-County YMCA. “Now it’s time to celebrate our transformation, and we are delighted with what these renovations mean for us as we continue to build and empower a healthy, confident and connected community.”
