Sports Bar and Restaurant, DJ's Goal Post, Opening June 1 in Falls

Falls resident Donald Matovich is returning to the bar and restaurant business after a decade hiatus. He plans to open the business in the former Su Casa location.

Menomonee Falls will soon be home to a new sports bar and restaurant called DJ’s Goal Post, which is good news for sports fans, drinkers, and diners seeking more variety in the village.

Falls resident Donald Matovich is returning to the bar and restaurant business after a decade hiatus. Matovich owned three DJ’s location in West Allis, St. Francis and West Milwaukee in the 1980s and 1990s, but stepped down due to diminishing health in 1999.

However, Matovich’s health has improved, and he’s preparing to open DJ’s Goal Post on June 1 at the former Su Casa location, N81W15094 Appleton Ave., inside the Falls Plaza I shopping center.

“We are working together with the business owners in the Falls Plaza to generate more business and encourage people to open up shops there,” Matovich said. “We want to bring a boost to that area, and this was a good deal for us to make a run at the business.”

Matovich said DJ’s plans to offer menu items and services that are the standard of any sports bar. The business will feature 10 televisions tuned to sports and a sports atmosphere will permeate throughout the establishment. Burgers, grilled chicken, steak sandwiches, fish fries, wings, and crab legs are planned for the menu.

Of course, Matovich said the business plans to offer Friday fish fry specials, wing nights, and a daily happy hour. DJ’s will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Sunday.

Matovich said the bar would also work collaboratively with Rosati’s Pizza, which is its neighbor along the strip mall. Rosati’s would supply the pizza and Greek foods for patrons at DJ’s.

“The economy is calling for business in the Falls,” Matovich said.

Apart from the menu and services, Matovich said his extensive connections within the community would be key to the success of the business. Matovich is the organizer of the Menomonee Falls Lakers, and his children all graduated from .

His wife, Jennifer, has also worked in the food industry for 27 years and is currently a field consultant for McDonald’s.

“We’re pretty connected, so I think it will turn into a beautiful business,” Matovich said. “It also helps that we’ve been in the business before. We were successful enough to move to Menomonee Falls, and we own two homes now.”

Before Matovich opens for business in June, the Plan Commission will need to approve his conditional use permit. DJ’s permit will be up for consideration at the Plan Commission meeting Tuesday.
