Planners Set Opening Date For Walmart Neighborhood Market

It's been more than a year in the making, but construction crews are nearing completion of a major project on the corner of Pilgrim Road and Main Street.

There’s been plenty of activity on the corner of Pilgrim Road and Main Street in Menomonee Falls, and construction of Walmart Neighborhood Market is nearing completion.

According to Walmart Public Relations Representative Lisa Nelson, Falls’ Neighborhood Market is expected to open Oct. 24. Construction of the grocery store began late in 2011, and planners originally projected the store would open in November. The entire shopping center has since received a complete exterior renovation from Tennessee-based Gatlin Development.

The village is investing up to $820,000 toward redevelopment of that corner. A total of $620,000 will fund developer improvements, as well as a right of way land purchase allowing for future expansion of Pilgrim Road. The village also advanced $200,000 to buffer costs resulting from environmental remediation that was needed on the site.
