Planners Set Opening Date For Walmart Neighborhood Market

It's been more than a year in the making, but construction crews are nearing completion of a major project on the corner of Pilgrim Road and Main Street.

There’s been plenty of activity on the corner of Pilgrim Road and Main Street in Menomonee Falls, and construction of Walmart Neighborhood Market is nearing completion.

According to Walmart Public Relations Representative Lisa Nelson, Falls’ Neighborhood Market is expected to open Oct. 24. Construction of the grocery store began late in 2011, and planners originally projected the store would open in November. The entire shopping center has since received a complete exterior renovation from Tennessee-based Gatlin Development.

However, the . The former gas station has been torn down, and that prominent corner.

The village is investing up to $820,000 toward redevelopment of that corner. A total of $620,000 will fund developer improvements, as well as a right of way land purchase allowing for future expansion of Pilgrim Road. The village also advanced $200,000 to buffer costs resulting from environmental remediation that was needed on the site.

Plans in front of the Neighborhood Market. It isn’t clear what businesses will occupy those buildings.

The Village Board . The Neighborhood Market replaced former Piggly Wiggly grocery store that stood vacant for over four years.

Here's my question - With the Woodman's a little way away, How will this negatively affect the neighborhood? I mean, I can see if it's a merchandise store, but a grocery store?
Nuitari (Grand Master Editor) September 18, 2012 at 12:53 AM
If there's something to be sold, there's something to be stoled. This means you Milwaukee citizens.

Why did the Wal-Mart close on Brown deer Road in Milwaukee?

Too much inventory loss to write off

Excellent question, let me answer that for you. A certain demographic continually ruins their neighborhoods and commerce that they keep moving west like a cancer.

Nuitari (Grand Master Editor) September 21, 2012 at 04:24 PM

I guess I just do not understand why we need this when we have a full service walmart just a couple miles down the road. That walmart has gotten noticably nicer since they opened the one on silver spring. Hopefully its customers will stay there.
dennis barth October 23, 2012 at 09:41 PM
