Majdecki's Switching From Sentry to Piggly Wiggly

The Majdeckis will switch wholesalers starting Aug. 23.

The game of musical chairs that is the grocery store business in Menomonee Falls continues to progress.

In the latest grocery store news, Piggly Wiggly is on its way back to Menomonee Falls after a several year hiatus. Ted and Joan Majdecki told JSOnline Monday they would be switching their Sentry store to a Piggly Wiggly on Aug. 23.

The Majdecki’s have owned the Sentry on the corner of Elm Lane and Appleton Avenue for eight years. Ted Majdecki said they made the switch to team up with a stronger wholesaler. Piggly Wiggly runs some 98 stores to Sentry’s 26.

The Majedecki’s also own a Sentry in West Allis and will make the switch there as well. They’ll turn control of the Falls location over to Don and Jill Peiffer, according to the report. The Majdecki’s will stay in West Allis.

The news from the Majdeckis is just one of many headlines about the local grocery store scene. In May, developers submitted plans to and construct a new store on the neighboring lot. Construction of at the corner of Pilgrim Road and Main Street is also moving along steadily.

The Neighborhood Market replaced a vacant Piggly Wiggly in the Pilgrim Village shopping center.

Falls is home to several other grocery stores including the recently constructed Woodman’s Food Market and the Super Pick’n Save on Appleton Avenue.
