Winning the lottery is pure luck, whether you nab a $2 scratch-off prize or join the Million Dollar Club.

But luck is not distributed equitably (see: Clooney, George), and nowhere in southeast Wisconsin is that more true than at Sturtevant Spirit and Liquor.

Since May 2011, 41 winning Wisconsin Lottery tickets worth at least $600 have been sold at the store on Durand Avenue. (All winners of at least $600 must supply their name and address to the state.)

Shrey Patel, 19, said his family has owned the store for about three years, and confirmed the store does get some pretty big lines when lottery jackpots climb.

If you’re more into hitting home runs than singles, there are six locations with total payouts of at least $1 million:

  • Kwik Trip, 1220 Brown St., Oconomowoc
  • Vagyon Enterprises, 3870 S. Howell, Milwaukee
  • Pick n’ Save, 10202 W. Silver Spring Drive, Milwaukee
  • River Bend Liquor, 7506 W. Oklahoma Ave., West Allis
  • Pick n’ Save, 15170 W. Greenfield Ave., Brookfield
  • Pick n’ Save, 14001 W. Greenfield Ave., New Berlin.

The interactive map details more than 600 locations that sold winning tickets meeting the $600 threshold since 2011. (Not all locations are included; some addresses could not be verified, possibly due to locations closing.) Click the dots to see more details; color coding represents levels of total dollar amounts won.

Information on winners and names of the locations was provided by the Wisconsin Department of Revenue, which oversees the lottery. Patch matched the name of the store with addresses listed on the lottery’s “retailers” web page.
