Local Company's Expansion Adding Up to 10 New Employees

Dynamic Tool & Design will increase its footprint by 50 percent, and add a new technology center to its building on Campbell Drive. They received some bonding help through the village to put the project in motion.

has been poised to expand for a couple years, but their plans were curtailed due to a down economy. However, the time is now right to pull the trigger on a 17,500-square-foot expansion of their exisitng building.

Employee-owned Dynamic Tool is currently housed in a 35,000-square-foot facility at W133N5180 Campbell Dr., which is just south of Silver Spring Drive. Irv Fischer, company vice president and co-founder, said the addition would serve as a technology center for the company. Fischer said they plan to add up to 10 employees once the project is completed.

“The technology center will aid us in helping to qualify our customers’ projects,” Fischer said. “It’s an employee-owned company so it’s a value to everyone in the plant having the ability to do this. It’s a real positive thing. We are very excited about it.”

Currently, all operations are housed in the existing space and Fischer said quarters are tight, which isn’t conducive for assisting customers easily. Dynamic Tool was founded in 1976 and moved into the space on Campbell Drive in 1990. The company specializes in injection molding and product development tooling for the medical and packaging industries.

Fischer said their customer base is both national and international. Since their customer base is highly specialized, he said they've weathered the recession better than others in the injection molding industry.

“The industries where our customer base is in were not conducive to ship across the pond. So business has stayed strong through the downturn,” Fischer said.

To hit the ground running with their project, Dynamic Tool received a little help from the village. The Village Board approved the issuance of up to $3.5 million in industrial development revenue bonds to fund the project. The Wisconsin Department of Commerce grants municipalities the authority to issue this type of bond to small manufacturers looking to expand, and they are no financial risk to the village.

“The village has been easy to work with,” Fischer said. “Menomonee Falls is a good community to work with, and they are no strangers to business.”

Fischer said he has one more meeting with the village before the financing is set in stone, but if all goes well they hope to break ground on the project May 1.
