Kohl's HQ Could Move to Park East Corridor in Milwaukee

According to a Business Journal report, county and city leaders are putting together a financial incentive package to attract the company to downtown.

It looks like Menomonee Falls isn't the only community willing to offer a helping hand to encourage Kohl's Corporation to build a new headquarters facility within its borders.

According to FOX 6 and their partners at the Milwaukee Business Journal, the city of Milwaukee and the county are assembling a financial incentive package to attract Kohl's to downtown Milwaukee.

Multiple sources from both the city and county level told the Business Journal that Kohl's asked city and county leaders for a proposal. Kohl's could be looking to build a new facility in the Park East Corridor, which has been an eyesore in Milwaukee for years.

In August, Menomonee Falls within the Woodland Prime office park north of Good Hope Road behind the .

Under the Falls' plan, the village would front $23 million for infrastructure improvements on the 45-site, and provide $18 million in grants and incentives for the project. The scope of the project falls within the village's Tax Incremental District #10.Β

The new headquarters is expected to add an additional 5,000 jobs to the community that Kohl's ultimately decides to locate in.

Village leaders had the North Hills Country Club to provide more space for a future headquarters location, but that deal fell through in summer.

The future location of the Kohl's headquarters has been a tightly kept secret, and corporate leaders have been silent on where the company plans to go.Β
