Youth Entertainment Center Proposed at Vacant Motor Sports Building

Although the proposal is still in its infancy, two Menomonee Falls residents are hoping to bring new life to a long-vacant building on the doorstep to the village.

Development along Main Street could continue to move in a positive direction if all goes well for a proposed family entertainment center in the former Badger Motor Sports building.

It’s hard not to notice the cracked pavement, overgrown shrubs, and worn down facade of the motor sports building, which has sat vacant for years. The building is tops on the list of blighted areas to improve along the important corridor to the village.

Menomonee Falls residents Veronika and Nikita Outrobine have proposed opening a unique family entertainment center for the site – complete with a miniature bowling alley in the basement.

VEGA Family Entertainment Center would become the place in Menomonee Falls to take the kids on a rainy day or for a birthday party to expend their seemingly endless supply of energy. VEGA would feature multiple inflatable slides, obstacle courses, sporting units and smaller obstacles for younger children, according to a proposal with the village.

They highlighted that the entertainment center would not have a "bar feel" to it.

A miniature bowling alley would be built the lower level, and they plan to add arcade games and other machines in the future. Pizza, hot dogs, refreshments and slushy drinks would all be served at VEGA, as well.

“We think there will be a lot of interest because of the location, and there are a lot of families that would use the space in Menomonee Falls,” said Veronika Outrobine, manager of development. “Our goal is to bring kids and families together for the fun and activities.

Preliminarily, it would cost $8.95 per child Monday through Friday, and $9.95 per child on Saturday and Sunday. Children 18 to 23 months would play for $4.95. The hours of operation are still to be determined.

In addition to bringing a new business to the village, the Outrobines would also repave the parking lot, add new signage, and renovate the exterior of the building.

The proposal is still in its infancy, however. Veronika Outrobine said they are currently working with banks to secure financing, and the village has to run the project through its approval process. As it stands, VEGA is set to appear before the Plan Commission in September.
