Falls-based Silgan Containers Announces Mass Layoff

A total of 38 employees will lose their jobs at the Falls branch on Commerce Drive starting Dec. 1.

Silgan Containers Manufacturing in Menomonee Falls will permanently lay off 38 employees as the company has decided to relocate its production line to another one of its manufacturing facilities.

The mass layoff was announced Tuesday by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. At total of 35 hourly, and three salaried positions will be eliminated once layoffs begin Dec. 1. According to Silgan Human Resources Manager Margo Rice, layoffs would continue in phases after Dec. 1.

Silgan’s Falls branch is located at W90W14600 Commerce Dr.

Silgan Containers manufactures metal food packaging and became a company in 1987; however, the company has history reaching back to 1899.
