Dan's Tog Shop is Going Out of Business

The last suit and tie will soon be sold at Dan's Tog Shop. The business is closing down after its owner, Bob Baer, passed away June 3.

Dan's Tog Shop was the bread and butter of Menomonee Falls' icon Bob Baer, who was oftentimes referred to as, "The Mayor of Downtown." However, with his death early in June, the life of his shop will also come to an end.

Baer's daughter Robin Manke, who is the owner of Robin's Nest, is holding a going-out-of-business-sale for the Tog Shop, and all items are 50 percent off. Manke shared the retail building along Main Street with Baer, and Robin's Nest will take over the rest of the shop once all the items are sold at the Tog Shop.

"We want to honor the legacy of Bob Baer as we expand the Robin's Nest business," Manke said.

Manke said the process of closing the Tog Shop has been progressing for a while as Baer grew older and dedicated less time to the shop.

Baer passed away June 3 at the age of 88. He was a leading advocate for downtown businesses and was a dedicated member of the Business Improvement District Board for many years. He was also a World War II hero, and received his medals decades after the war in a special ceremony held in Menomonee Falls.

For decades, Baer helped the men of Falls look sharp in the suits, ties and other apparel he sold from his shop.
