Blockbuster on Appleton Avenue Will Close

First day of liquidation sale held Friday, and store will close April 10.

The on Appleton Avenue is closing its doors for good in April.

The store held the first day of its inventory liquidation sale on Friday, and a staff member at the store said the doors will close for good on April 10.

Some DVDs are priced at $9.99, TV series sets are $19.99 and all products in the store are 10 to 50 percent off.

According to a report by the Associated Press, the Dallas-based company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September. In bankruptcy court documents submitted in December, the company revealed that it planned to close 110 stores around the country in the first few months of 2011, according to the report.
