Bites Nearby: Angelo's Cafe Vino

Coffee by day, wine by night.

Opened by musician Angelo Petropoulos of the local band the “Sweet Tarts” in April, the motto of Angelo’s Café Vino, N88 W16521 Main St., is “Escape the Ordinary.” At the two-in-one café and wine bar, Petropoulos incorporates dishes, beer, and wine from around the world and serves them up in a healthy way.

During the café hours imported coffee or espresso is served alongside scones. For lunch, Angelo’s has deli sandwiches made to order, an array of salads and homemade soups, and several signature meals including Peasant Lunch, Mediterranean Lunch, and Pasta Salad.

“I don’t sell anything fried,” Petropoulos said.

For the wine bar at night, over 60 varieties of wine are offered. These can be paired with the many imported cheeses Angelo’s has, as well as homemade rustic baked pies, the specialty of Angelo’s. For the non-wine drinker, there is a great selection of beer, as well as signature martinis.

“We have international beer from the Africa, Greece, Turkey, and more,” Petropoulos said.
