Art Guild Opening New Gallery Downtown

The group will hold an opening celebration March 15.

The Art Guild of Menomonee Falls announced Saturday that they secured a temporary location for a Village Centre Art Gallery.

Guild President Janet Hudachek always wanted to have a more permanent location for members to show their work. The new gallery is located at N88 W16586 Main St.

“The Guild holds several annual events for their artists to display work each year, but they only last from one day to a month. I wanted a place where we could display our work long term, a place we could gather in for classes, demonstrations and invite guest artists” Hudachek said.

Guild member Pete Zielinski said Hudachek suggested obtaining a space several times since becoming president, but mostly got reasons why it would not work. Zielinski said Hudachek preserved and wouldn’t give into that mindset. She just made it happen, Zielinksi said.

Once Houdacheck found a location, a manageable rent, and a timeframe, the guild's board jumped into action finding artists. After many emails and persuasive phone calls, Houdachek found success.

“We crunched the numbers several times and it was finally adding up.” Zielinski said. ”We have the commitment from the artists, now we have to roll up our sleeves and get this done. This is a great space across from an established gallery. We are looking forward to working with Susan of Purloin Studios and Joanne from Mill Street Folk Art to create an added awareness of art in the Village Centre.”

The Art Guild has 67 members from Menomonee Falls and surrounding communities. Over 20 of them will display their works in “The Art Gallery of the Guild.” The artist’s mediums include all paints, metal creations, woodwork, glass and even century old Asian artistry.  With multiple galleries in quick walking distance from each other, there is art for every taste here in the Village Centre.

The Guild plans an opening Thursday, March 15 from 6-9 p.m. From that date forward, the Art Gallery of the Guild will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

“We have lots of plans for the next seven months from presenting established guest artists to creating opportunities for up-and-coming artists to offering unique classes for the young and not so young. There will be many reasons to visit us.”

Zielinski said they are also encouraging all participating artists to spend time actively creating their art on the premises.

“We hope many people will make the Village Centre a destination for their artistic needs and curiosity,” Zielinski said.
