A Retail Revival at North Pointe Shopping Centre

Three new businesses have occupied prominent vacancies in the North Pointe Centre, and Big Lots has already opened its doors.

The North Pointe Centre is in the midst of a retail revival of late. The shopping center is home to three new businesses, and a brand new parking lot.

For years, significantly sized retail spaces stood vacant in the shopping center along Appleton Avenue across from Menomonee Falls High School, but that all has changed.

Big Lots, a discount retailer, is now open for business and was busy by midday on Thursday. The company is the nation’s largest brand-name closeout retailer and operates more than 1,400 stores in 48 states. The store sells a variety of products including clothing, furniture, housewares, gifts, and groceries.

Jo-Ann Fabrics is moving from Appleton Avenue and Pilgrim Road south, and will operate adjacent to Big Lots. Jo-Ann will open its doors for business May 17. Jo-Ann is the largest specialty fabrics and sewing retailer. There are nearly 800 stores in the continental United States. They will continue to fill a void left behind by the closure of the Quilted Basket.

Finally, Chun Yeung, of Fond du Lac, plans to open Sakura Sushi and Grill in the next few weeks. Sakura would be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Price for entrees would range from $10-$25. Yeung said the menu would feature New York-style Japanese fusion sushi choices.
