The Kindling's First Fundraiser a Success

New citizen group formed this year as an auxiliary of the Menomonee Falls Fire Department.

A new citizen organization formed to support the Menomonee Falls Fire Department reports success with its first fund-raising event.

The department’s auxiliary, formed in June and bearing the name “The Kindling,” held a spaghetti dinner on Tuesday, July 12, at MFFD Station #3 on Lily Road.

“We’re very pleased with the turnout at our July 12 event,” said Rachel Madsen, president of The Kindling.  “We’re a young organization and were not sure how the community would respond.  The success of the spaghetti dinner indicates that our fellow citizens are as appreciative as we are of the fine work done by Chief Jeffrey Hevey and the men and women of our fire department.

The Kindling

Madsen described The Kindling’s mission as providing a “multifaceted network of support” to the fire department and the community.   That could include nourishment and hydration to firefighter and emergency medical technicians when they are required to be at an emergency scene for an extended period of time; financial aid; and building public awareness of and support for the work done by the department.
